YNH Services has been successful in obtaining funding in the E-learning Innovations program to expand the use of E-learning in Certificate IV in TAA which will assist us to embed E-learning in our organisation. This is very exciting because we are better resourced to assist you to become more skilled in delivering programs with the use of E-learning Technologies like the WIKI and virtual classrooms like Elluminate.
Tutors of the future will need to be able to adapt to the use of all of the available E-learning resources (and there are many with the list expanding every day) as students begin to want more and more flexible solutions to their learning needs.
Part of the funding requirement is that we present a report at the end of the project so we would be extremely grateful if you could all keep some notes of your experiences during the course. What you felt worked well, what didn't, how we could improve the E-learning experience for you. We would love to see your reflections on the pages you have created on this WIKI but if you still feel a bit shy about having your thoughts "out there" it would be great if you could just keep a journal somewhere else and share it with us.

I see that Marita and Karen formed a Study Group last night through an Elluminate VRoom. Study groups are a fantastic idea but sometimes you can't manage to get together. Then why not try a VRoom. Karen and Marita both have children and found it much easier to get the kids to bed and then meet in the VRoom from the comfort of their own homes.
Anyone can get a VRoom. They are free. If you would like to try it out click on the icon below. This will take you to the page where you can register for your VRoom.

Hi everyone!!!! Pauline here. It is 5:03am and I couldn't sleep. But I am very excited now and glad that I decided to pay a visit to the Wiki. We are starting to use the wiki in the way that I had hoped it would be most useful for students. Marita, Sisi and Kim have posted some discussions and questions on the home page about the Whizz Bang Assessment. Please everybody go to the home page and then click the discussion tab at the top of that page to see if you can assist each other. Remember if you want to keep a discussion thread going you need to reply to the discussion rather than creating a new thread.
Particularly pleased to see Kim in there discussing as she has only just joined the class. Well done Kim!!!!
Later in the day:- Great to see so much discussion. It does occur to me though,from discussions I have had with some people today, that as Gabby mentioned at an earlier point, you really need to read your manuals. If you try to complete the assessments without reading the manuals you will find it more difficult and become very frustrated.

Well it's 10.00 am Monday & I am just out of bed after working all night to re do the assessment material that I stupidly deleted Sunday evening. I worked on it until 6.00am. I was within an inch of quitting when it happened, but thanks to the encouragement of my darling partner I decided to push on & have finished it, even though it was rushed, I think it will suffice.

For those of you who are concerned about handing in assessments for our first three units (The Environment Field), I have changed the date for submission of all three to 29th March. Remember, Work effectively in vocational education and training is now up to you. Read the manual and work your way through slowly and methodically, the manual tells you when it is time to complete an assessment task.

I hope you all enjoyed your first Elluminate Class. I thought you all did a great job finding your way around. Well done!!! We still have a couple of people who are having Audio problems but perhaps they could get in touch with me during the week to see if we can sort them out before next week’s session
I think I may have created a bit of confusion when I started chatting about the WIKI in the chat box last night. All I meant was that if people have questions that Gabby was unable to answer last night perhaps they could ask them on the WIKI so that everybody can share the information. Often people have the same query. And it will save Gabby having to answer the same questions over and over.
My suggestion would be that to ask your question, you start a new discussion on the General Course Discussion Page.
Click into the page from the left hand menu. Click the discussion tab at top of the General Course Discussion Page. Then click new post, post your question, click post and you are done. Gabby will receive notification of your question and will reply.

I have noticed that some people have been joining "Wikispaces" but not joining our wiki. My fault entirely. The directions on the Home page were incorrect. I have amended them so you can have another try. But I will email those who are effected so they know who they are.

Just a reminder for next Monday.
Please bring your manuals and flash drives with the assessments loaded on them. It is important to bring these every time we meet.
The plan for Monday will be to:-
Look at the Introduction to the Learner Guides
Help you to use your manuals to full advantage.
Look at the assessments in detail for the units Foster and promote an inclusive learning culture and Ensure a healthy and safe learning environment.
Complete a group activity or two in relation to the above two units
Look at the unit Work effectively in vocational education and training and discuss how you should tackle this one
Use the computer room after 8pm to make a start on the assessment for Foster and promote an inclusive culture

Then if you wish to set up your Audio you will need to notify me so that we can arrange a time to open up the YNH Services Classroom for you to do this.
